Facial peels

24/03/2016 at 09:48:48 | by Dr Alison Duncan
The VI peel and VI peel acne represent the next generation of chemical exfoliant unlike any others you may have experienced. It is comfortable to have applied, which is a huge improvement on the acute severe burning you experience with 20-30% TCA peels. It is convenient, with peeling occurring through the 3rd to 6th days after treatment. You go home with a lovely after care pack, too.

VI peel, contains five acids, and TCA is one of them. It also has phenolic acid, the strongest acid peel currently used in aesthetics, retinoic acid, salicylic acid, and ascorbic acid. With all of those ingredients and the comfort afforded by the phenol, it is the best peel I use. It gives the results of a good deep peel, not that from shop bought or beauty salon glycolic acid peels.

It it is indicated for anti-aging, acne,  Hyperpigmentation, melasma, sunspots, mild acne scars, dull lifeless skin, it improves tone and texture and is suitable for sensitive skin types. Fine lines and wrinkles improve, with the skin appearing smoother. Up to 71% of patients report such. The collagen content of the skin is increased which gives a suppleness to the skin.

The radical thing about VI Peel and s that it can be safely used over the eyelids! We all have fine lines and wrinkles around our eyes that we want to improve. The peel can also be used on neck, décolleté, hands.

i've has the VI peel twice and can vouch for it's effectiveness and comfort. There is no way I would go back to pure TCA which is barbaric, less are, and cannot be used around the eyes out over the eyelids. It is safe to apply over the neck and décolleté which are prone to "catching" with TCA . Would highly recommend this peel even for the scariest of patients!

A clear difference

Having struggled with skin breakouts for more than a decade, Shane, 25, had been given both steroid creams and antibiotics to try to ease the problem. However, he found his skin became redder and oilier as the day progressed, so he decided to stop using them.

Shortly after this he went to a Skin Analysis Event at Lincoln Laser Clinic where he was recommended Skin Accumax. After taking 4 capsules a day for 12 weeks he was able to reduce this to two capsules.

Day by day account of my first Vi Peel

11/03/2013 at 14:34:20 | by Georgina Ireland
Skin Type II - Peel applied to Face, Eyelids, Neck & Decolletage and Hands, then a week later I had a Vi Precision just under my eyes

Day 1 When the peel went on it felt zingy, but this didn't last longer than a minute. I had no discomfort at all, my face was just a bit red, the skin under my eyes was looking very dry and the lines were enhanced, especially after the Vi Precision Peel. Later on, my face did get quite red and felt warm. An hour before I went to bed I washed it off (about 8 hours after I had it applied). I then wiped the towlette over, which felt a bit stingy just for a few seconds, I then applied the Post Peel Protectant. I didn't feel the need to take any paracetamol as I had no discomfort at all.

Day 2 Put Post Peel Protectant on, then the Sun Protection, I didn't worry about putting any foundation on, just a bit of mascara. Although I was looking a bit red, nobody noticed at all. I went out and carried on as normal. I applied the Post Peel Protectant several times through the day. One hour before I went to bed I used the other towlette, which was a bit stingy again, then I applied the Post Peel Protecant. When I applied this I could see tiny bits of flakey skin, so thought this must be the start of the peeling.

Day 3 When I woke I could see my skin was starting to look a flaky. I put the Post Peel Protectant on, then the Sun Protection. This was the only day that I wanted to stay in.

Day 4 Still a bit flaky, but nothing too obvious, so I went out as normal, applying Post Peel and Vaseline quite often through the day, and of course the Sun Proection. My skin is feeling a bit tight now.

Day 5 Skin is dry and a bit flaky, mainly around hairline, and tiny bits of my eyelids. Keep applying Vaseline.

Day 6 Skin is not as dry today, it is looking great, but applying lots of Environ Super Moisturiser.

Day 7 Hands started looking dry and flaky, but my face is back to normal, skin is looking great, very refreshed..

Overall Conclusion - I am extremely happy with the results of the Vi Peel. My lines under my eyes have definitely got loads better. I feel very confident that my skin is looking flawless and feel I don't even have to wear foundation all the time. I would highly recommend.

Top 50 Most Asked Beauty Questions - No. 33

10/10/2012 at 12:09:58 | by Georgina Ireland
33. PROBLEM SKIN

I'M IN MY 30S AND I STILL GET ACNE-LIKE SPOTS. WHY IS THAT?

Adult acne is on the rise and random break-outs tend to happen between the ages of 25 and 45 - so it's not always the fault of too much pizza, boyfriend trouble or exam nerves. Wash affected skin with an exfoliating cleanser such as B-Active Sebuprep and use the light B-Active Sebugel A moisturiser. Avoiding moisturiser altogether will cause the skin to pump out more oil. Use a topical treatment such as B-Acive Sebuspot which helps control individual spots. Visit a skincare therapist for a gentle Cool Peel.
